Underground Line Locate Request: Missouri One Call

Don’t be shocked by what you find when you dig in your yard!!

Barton County Electric Cooperative, Inc. owns underground electric lines from the main distribution line up to the meter base. From the meter base to the house or outbuilding is the member’s underground electric. By calling Missouri One Call, Barton County Electric will mark any underground electric, from the main line to the meter base. If you are digging past the meter onto your property and need electric lines located, please call the Operations Department at Barton County Electric directly at 1-800-286-5636. There may be a fee to locate member owned lines between the meter base and house or outbuilding.

Missouri law requires that any person making or beginning any excavation notify all underground facility owners/operators which may be affected by said excavation at least 48 hours, but not more than ten working days in advance, except in the case of emergency. Missouri law defines a “working day” as everyday, except Saturday, Sunday, or a legally declared local, state, or federal holiday.

Before you dig in your yard, call Missouri One Call at 1-800-DIG RITE. (344-7483). Missouri One Call Operators are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Utility Color Codes

RED – Electric Power Lines, Cables, Conduit, and Lighting Cables
  YELLOW – Gas, Oil, Steam, Petroleum, or Gaseous Materials
  ORANGE – Communication, Alarm or Signal Lines, including Cable TV
  BLUE – Water, Irrigation and Slurry Lines
  GREEN – Storm Drain Lines/Sewer
  PINK - Survey Markings
  WHITE – Proposed Excavation
  PURPLE – Reclaimed Water
